“[X] isn't available yet in your country or region.” You will get messages like that when websites put virtual borders around themselves and try to keep out internauts from certain regions of the world. The web should not have any borders – we should have free access to all that is out there on the web. The Olive application ensures we do. It uses proxy technology to grant access to content that “isn’t available on your region.”

Olive is a Java-based application and consequently it works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. To get Olive up and running on a Windows PC you will have to go through a standard installation process. Or to put it in other words, a setup wizard will guide you through the installation process.

Access to Olive’s functionality is done via your browser. When you launch Olive, your default web browser will launch and take you to http://localhost:40000/
From there you can choose to connect to the web via the US, UK or Netherlands, view a list of trackers, choose if you want to contribute to the network, edit and choose profiles, and play with other settings.

Olive uses proxy technology to let you cross virtual borders. Say you want to access an American website but you can't because you’re in Romania. Every time you try to access the website, you get a message that says something like “website not available in your region.” With Olive you can change where you access the internet from; you can connect from the US and thus access the American website you want to access.

Bypass infuriating restrictions and access content that should be available to all. Go get Olive and access websites that are not available in your country or region.

Pros

Olive is Java-based and works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Access to Olive’s functionality is done via your default browser. Two modes for the interface: basic and advanced mode. Use Olive to connect to the web via the US, UK, or Netherlands. Olive is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
